Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche founded the New Kadampa Tradition, a modern presentation of Buddhism rooted in an unbroken lineage that reaches back to Buddha himself.
After nearly twenty years of study and practice in the great Tibetan monasteries, he spent another twenty years in meditation retreat in the Himalayas, earning a reputation as a highly respected contemporary practitioner and teacher of Buddhism.
For the past forty-one years, he has shared this wisdom with people around the world, giving thousands of teachings, writing twenty-three acclaimed books, establishing hundreds of centers worldwide, and launching the International Temples Project (ITP), a unique international fund dedicated to public benefit.
The ITP supports the international growth of a broad range of modern Buddhist institutions, including Temples for World Peace, Kadampa Meditation Centers (KMCs), International Retreat Centers (IRCs), Kadampa Buddhist Centers (KBCs), and Tharpa Publications. Together, these institutions offer public service that reflects the Buddhist faith.
