I see myself as a fellow traveller, always learning, always curious, and always guided by a deep love for life. My name is Elissa Chrisson, and I have been on the road since I was 18, drawn to the unknown and inspired by the belief that magic reveals itself to those who are open to it. Over the years, I have gathered lessons from wise teachers, conscious communities, and natural places that have shaped my path in profound ways.
My connection to nature has brought me joy, peace, and a deeper understanding of myself and the world. I know I will always remain a student of life, but I also feel called to share what I have learned in the hope of supporting others on their own journey of growth. My mission is to open hearts, minds, and souls so we can live in greater love and harmony with ourselves and the world around us.
I want to share my experiences, the places I have visited, the lessons I have lived, and the connection between life, love, movement, art, and adventure. This is my journey of inner and outer exploration.
Movement has always been a part of who I am. As a child, I was known for my sporting abilities and competed as a national swimmer, while also taking part in other athletic groups. Even so, as a young adult I found myself travelling the world in search of answers. When I returned to Sydney, hoping to settle and find my direction, I began practising yoga every day for three weeks at a local studio. By the fourth week, I was on a plane to India to learn more about this practice that had already captured my attention.
In India, I completed a 200-hour teacher training in the Raja Dhi Raja style of yoga. I was also honoured to assist as a teacher at the Himalayan Yoga Institute with Ganga Devi. During this time, I practised with some of India’s most experienced teachers and was introduced to Ashtanga, Kundalini, and Iyengar.
This period marked real physical, mental, and spiritual growth for me. I discovered the missing piece I had been searching for: yoga, my Svaddharma, my purpose in this lifetime. While I have always been active, I came to understand that what I love most is not only the asana practice, but also yogic philosophy, the science of yoga. It is the union of body, mind, and soul; the practice of presence; and the acceptance of what is.
Since then, I have continued to learn from inspirational teachers, including Nikki Knoff, whose traditional teachings come through a direct lineage to Krishnamacharya. Her approach blends the dynamic series of Ashtanga with the refined alignment of BKS Iyengar. I also continued developing my skills in Sydney under the guidance of Elise Campbell, a friend and inspiration.
I believe strength and growth come through consistent effort and dedication. My teaching encourages you to work hard, softly. I honour the fact that every body is different, and I always aim to practise with that in mind. This is holistic yoga.
My passion as a teacher is to offer you tools you can carry beyond the class, so you can build a home practice and eventually become your own teacher. I will always be a student of yoga, continuing to deepen my knowledge and evolve my practice. That is the beauty of yoga: it is empowering, expansive, and endless.
