Dr. Jonathan Wright serves as Medical Director of Tahoma Clinic, where he also practices medicine. A graduate of Harvard University (A.B. 1965) and the University of Michigan (M.D. 1969), he has remained a leading voice in the research and clinical use of natural treatments for healthy aging and illness. Since 1976, together with Alan Gaby, M.D., he has compiled a collection of more than 50,000 research papers on diet, vitamins, minerals, botanicals, and other natural substances, forming the basis for non-patent, non-drug approaches to a wide range of health concerns. Since 1983, Dr. Wright has taught natural biochemical medical treatments to thousands of physicians across the USA, Europe, and Japan.
In 1982, he was the first to develop and introduce comprehensive bio-identical hormone protocols, including estrogens, progesterone, DHEA, and testosterone, and at Meridian Valley Laboratory he directed the creation of testing methods to support their safe use. He continues to teach the use and laboratory monitoring of bio-identical hormones at several seminars each year. His work also includes successful natural treatment approaches for childhood asthma, methods that stop vision loss or improve vision in most people with dry macular degeneration, and the first use of aldosterone to help reverse age-related hearing loss. He discovered the influence of iodine on estrogen metabolism and cobalt on steroid detoxification, helped popularize D-mannose for E. coli urinary tract infections, and developed effective natural treatments for seborrheic dermatitis, allergic and viral conjunctivitis, and Osgood-Schlatter’s disease. In 2013, he revived overlooked research and treatment protocols using Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) for severe neurological problems.
Dr. Wright founded Tahoma Clinic in 1973, Meridian Valley Laboratory in 1976, and the Tahoma Clinic Foundation in 1996. Tahoma Clinic was created to address disease through natural methods and to focus on correcting the imbalances in the body that can lead to illness. The widely known 1992 FDA Tahoma Clinic “raid” (“The Great B-Vitamin Bust”) became a major catalyst for Congressional reform of vitamin and mineral regulation. He remains a strong advocate for patient freedom of choice in healthcare.
As an acclaimed lecturer, Dr. Wright speaks nationwide on a broad range of subjects, including nutritional medicine, natural hormone replacement therapies for men and women, the natural treatment of cardiovascular disease, asthma, and diabetes, the use of D-mannose for bladder infection, and the health benefits of Vitamin D, including proper usage and laboratory testing, along with many other topics.
