Christoph is a psychedelic integration therapist and consultant counselling psychologist dedicated to helping people navigate the depths of the mind and consciousness. As Director at Numinous Ways, he manages organisational processes and applications, while also facilitating psychedelic retreats and offering integration therapy. His work is especially informed by a strong interest in the transpersonal dimensions of psychedelic experiences and their importance in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy.
‘My first numinous experience came when I was about five or six. I could not name it at the time, but the memory is still vivid more than 45 years later. In a particularly powerful dream, I received clear guidance on how to climb a small garage—a challenge all my peers had already managed, but I had not. At eight, during a serious illness, I experienced ego dissolution for the first time and felt the fear of emptiness and the fragility of self. Even without the language to explain it, that moment, together with recurring unusual dreams and mysterious states of mind, gave me a lasting sense that the mystery of existence was always close by.
That feeling stayed with me, and I found the numinous in books, music, nature, and everyday life. It influenced my choice of college and later led me to study psychology and psychotherapy as a way of responding to that deeper calling. I have long believed that many mental health challenges grow out of profound existential questions: Who am I? Why do I exist? My life has been devoted to exploring these questions and supporting others in discovering their own truth and their own path to the numinous.
Psychedelic mushrooms were part of my teenage years, as I grew up in the highlands where they are common. Yet it was only years after my first ayahuasca experience that I understood how to bring these experiences into my professional practice. Numinous Ways is the result of that understanding. I discovered that I have some organisational skills, which were further strengthened after one of my unusual yet beautiful psychedelic experiences. Perhaps because numinous experiences are fleeting and beyond words, I feel most at home when following a vision. I need something larger than myself and my own wishes; without that, I quickly lose interest. This is what led me to take on the role of director at Numinous Ways, where I now help shape its vision and strategy in pursuit of our goals.
Numinous Ways reflects what I consider the most precious aspects of human life. I am grateful that it has become not only a passion and profession, but also a source of awe, discovery, and meaningful relationships.’
