At 78, this native Kichwa yachak, meaning “the one who knows,” is a traditional healer from Napo in the Ecuadorian Amazon. He began learning from his elders at a very young age and has spent decades practicing ancestral spirituality, building deep connections with the helpful spirit doctors of nature — including the spirits of plants, waterfalls, lagoons, mountains, stones, caves, and forests. His allies also include the spiritual forces of jaguars, anacondas, and eagles.
He is consulted by patients from several provinces across Ecuador. During ceremony, he offers powerful individual cleansing rituals for each participant, using his leaf fan and song to channel the healing power of different spirits. In his visions, he sees each person seated on a beautiful throne, receiving the specific energies of a particular spirit. He believes every patient needs something different, and he adapts his healing accordingly so the ritual can be most beneficial.
With strong presence and firmness throughout the ceremonial night, he creates a powerful veil of protection and performs a special ritual to remove negative energies from the body. He will be leading Ayahuasca ceremonies.
