Babaji Baldev Singh has devoted his life to the search for spiritual truth and communion with God wherever that path could be found. Over the years, he has studied and apprenticed with teachers from Native North American, Andean, Amazonian, and Tibetan traditions. He holds each of these lineages with deep respect, continuing to honor, practice, and follow the wisdom they have shared.
From a young age, he also carried a sincere prayer for world peace, greater understanding among cultures, ethnicities, and religions, and a more balanced relationship with nature and all living beings. His heart has long been oriented toward healing the human condition, including poverty, illness, and the many forms of suffering that affect people everywhere.
My first meeting with Babaji Baldev Singh took place in July 2008 in British Columbia, Canada, at a time when I was going through a deep personal crisis. I was questioning everything, feeling lost and sad, and searching for guidance. On the way to see him, I prayed with great sincerity. When I arrived, he was able to speak directly to my grief without me saying a word. I felt an immediate and profound connection with him, and with many people in the Sangha, that it felt like coming home to my own people in some mysterious way.
Within his community, Babaji is regarded as a holy man, and I truly believe he is one of the few people on this planet who is fully united with the Divine in service. He is humble, gentle, and filled with love and compassion. He seems to see through us and offer the guidance we seek, directly from Source. Silent meditation with him feels natural and effortless, like catching a wave and riding it home.
Six months later, I took my son Marcos to India to spend a month with Babaji at his temple compound, Bulandpuri. There I was moved to find a large gathering of people praying without hypocrisy, serving the Sangha with joy, and treating one another with deep respect and love. My son and I both felt welcomed, cared for, appreciated, and loved.
I had arrived with a heartfelt desire to surrender to God’s will, immerse myself in Grace, and learn how best to serve. Since then, I feel that deep changes have taken place and my prayers are being answered.
In later conversations with Babaji, I discovered that we share the dream of breaking down prejudice and hatred, and of uniting the world’s diverse cultures, religions, and nations in the love of God and in service to all of God’s children, while respecting each person’s background and beliefs.
In all of my meetings with him so far, he has always been surrounded by his Indian Sikh community, and I have not seen westerners there. However, Babaji has been instructed to reach out to westerners and has asked for my help in this effort.
If you feel called by this message, you may meet Babaji. If so, please get in touch and I will share the contact information.
I am also inspired by the possibility of bringing people from around the world to experience the transformation I have known in Bulandpuri, India, and to join in the service we can offer together to help make this world a better place for all God’s children.
