Antonio Vasquez Galaretta is a Maestro Curandero, or Master Healer, with more than 40 years of devoted service to the sacred plant medicine traditions of the Shipibo people. He also holds the rare distinction of being a Master Teacher, reflecting both the depth of his healing knowledge and his gift for transmitting ancestral wisdom with clarity, respect, and spiritual precision.
Born into a lineage of healers, Antonio began learning at an early age under the guidance of his grandfather, a respected curandero. From childhood, he was immersed in the spiritual practices and teachings of the Shipibo-Conibo people, receiving ancient knowledge directly from his elders. This early initiation became the foundation of a lifelong commitment to sacred plant medicine.
After marrying Rosa Arevalo Maynas, Antonio continued his apprenticeship with Rosa’s brother, the renowned Maestro Guillermo Arevalo, a leading figure in the revival and preservation of Amazonian healing traditions. For more than a decade, he worked closely with Guillermo, completing extensive plant dietas and studying with Master Plants such as Ayahuasca, Noya Rao, Bobinsana, and Chiric Sanango, among others.
These dietas are not simply about working with plants; they are a sacred relationship with their spirits, a path of receiving teachings and learning to channel healing through icaros, prayer, and ceremony.
