Annie Wilson is a Philadelphia-based choreographer, performer, and death doula whose work centers the lived experience of the body rather than its outward appearance. Recognized as a Pew Fellow in the Arts and an Independence Fellow, she has presented her work internationally, bringing a deeply embodied and reflective approach to performance and healing practices.
Her introduction to keening began while creating At Home with the Humorless Bastard, and over the past eight years she has continued to study, shape, and refine this practice. Rooted in grief and remembrance, her keening honors the traditional ritual form while weaving together vocal improvisation, dance, and somatics. Through this work, Annie creates space for emotional expression, embodied release, and mindful connection.
She is also the founder of a project that extends this exploration further, offering participants an opportunity to engage with grief, movement, and voice in a thoughtful and supportive setting.
