Originally from Wales, Anandabodhi Bhikkhuni has devoted the past 30 years to Buddhist monastic life. She first trained in the Thai Forest Tradition in England before moving to the United States, where she co-founded Aloka Vihara, a residence for Bhikkhunis, or fully ordained Buddhist nuns, in California. Her path is closely connected to the worldwide revival of the Theravada Bhikkhuni Sangha, helping restore the possibility for women to receive full ordination within the Theravada tradition.
She is also the founder of Pārāyana Vihāra in Washington State, where she currently lives. Her practice is rooted in early Buddhist scriptures, communal living, and the direct, clarifying teachings of nature. Through her work and way of life, she offers a grounded and inspiring expression of the Dhamma shaped by discipline, simplicity, and deep spiritual commitment.
