Kalapa Acharya Adam Lobel’s path into meditation began at the age of 16, sparked by a deep response to the social and ecological injustices he witnessed around him. Soon after, he discovered the writings and vision of Tibetan meditation master Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, whose teachings opened the door to a lifelong commitment to the Buddhist path.
Inspired by the ideas of warriorship and enlightened society, Adam devoted himself to meditation retreats and training within the Shambhala Buddhist tradition. In 1997, while on retreat in Parphing, Nepal, he met Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, head of the Shambhala lineage, a connection that became an important part of his journey. He also served as co-editor of the Sakyong’s book Turning the Mind into an Ally.
Adam’s work reflects a steady dedication to meditation, contemplation, and the practical application of spiritual teachings in everyday life. His background offers participants an opportunity to learn from a teacher shaped by years of retreat practice, study, and direct engagement with the Shambhala path.
