If you're called upon to respond creatively to the complexity of your work, this is the place to gather with global leaders and renowned artists,
similarly seeking new sources of inspiration and growth.

The retreat is for globally-minded leaders who are aligning their work with an urgent call for systems transformation.

- Meet us at the intersection of artistic and leadership practice.
- What is the Burren Executive Leadership Retreat?
- In conversations with top leaders, we find a few recurring questions:
- What does it mean to grow myself to successfully meet the challenges I am facing?
- Where are my peers; other leaders actively seeking their next horizon?
- What role can we play in evolving leadership to meet the needs of the future?

As the leadership environment and global systems challenges become more complex and urgent, it seems wise to ground and expand our personal capacity in a community of peers, so that we and our organizations can thrive.

Martin Hayes
Martin is regarded as one of the most extraordinary talents to emerge in the world of Irish traditional music. His unique sound, his mastery of his chosen instrument – the violin – his acknowledgment of the past and his shaping of the future of the music, combine to create an astonishing and formidable artistic intelligence.

In his younger days, he played in an experimental electric band in Chicago; recently he has composed scores for film, theatre, and modern dance, and has collaborated with like-minded musicians from other genres, such as jazz guitarist, Bill Frisell and eclectic violinist Darol Anger.

He views these explorations as a means of shedding light on his ongoing artistic journey, as well as a challenge to any rigidity of thought. The fundamental artistic quest is to go deeper and deeper within traditional Irish music and himself.

Mary Stacey
Mary initiated the Burren Executive Leadership Retreat in 2013. To this gathering place for global senior leaders, she brings years of collaboration with visual artists, musicians, poets, and dancers, and a depth of experience cultivating forms of leadership that are more creative, adaptive, collaborative, and systemic.

Mary is also the founder of Context Consulting, an international consultancy based in Canada. She combines her role as managing director with innovative projects in leadership development, university teaching, and select client engagements. Mary most often coaches executive leadership teams to facilitate the shifts of mind required to be successful in today’s environment of escalating complexity. Recent clients include Merck, Sanofi-Genzyme, ImmunoGen, The World Bank, the Centre for Global Engineering, Harthill UK, Fujitsu, Eli Lilly, Air Canada, and a consortium of the German, Japanese, and Canadian Space Agencies.

Mary holds an MA in Organizational Leadership and Learning, a Diploma in Counseling and executive coaching certification.

Pádraig Ó Tuama
Pádraig Ó Tuama is a poet and theologian. Following a nomadic decade, he settled in Belfast, where he has lived since 2003. From 2014-2019, Pádraig led the Corrymeela Community, Ireland’s oldest peace and reconciliation community, an organization that works with 10,000 people a year in the mission to ’Transform Division through Human Encounter’

Pádraig’s interests encompass conflict, religion, and poetry. Seemingly different disciplines, he sees that these three centres on the question of language: how we use it; what we use it for; what it creates; what it destroys.

He is a highly sought after writer, speaker and broadcaster, and his work has been featured on RTÉ (Ireland), BBC (UK and World Service), NPR (USA) and ABC (Australia). His four books encompass poetry, prose, prayers and narrative non-fiction.

Reilly Dow
Since 2008, Reilly has supported organizations on four continents, creating visual representations in English and Spanish to facilitate greater creativity, depth, and engagement. She uses graphic recording and visual facilitation in support of diverse groups looking to share, understand, and act on important ideas. Her recent clients include the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the International Peace Institute, and the United Nations.

Reilly is a member of the International Forum of Visual Practitioners (IFVP) and the National Coalition for Dialogue and Deliberation (NCDD). She holds an MA in Interdisciplinary Studies, and her research interests include multi-stakeholder dialogue and participatory decision-making in complex environments. Reilly is originally from Canada and has lived in Chile and the US. She is currently based in Mexico City.
