Teachers

Chrissy Joy
Chrissy endeavors to help others create connection to and awareness of body, mind and soul via multiple modalities.

These include: Yoga, Thai Therapy, Meditation, Sound Therapy, Aromatherapy, Reiki, and Wellness Workshops. Chrissy’s goal is to help and inspire those seeking to connect to something higher than themselves. Walking through the journeys with her clients brings her true emotional fulfillment.

Chrissy began her professional adult life after receiving a dual bachelor’s degree in Education and Psychology. Chrissy left teaching after achieving tenure as she found the politics within the school system limited her ability to reach her full potential. She broke from the safety of a normal 9-5 career and set out on a path of alternative healing. That path includes a Reiki 2 Certification (2012), Kripalu Yoga Teacher Training Certification (2013), and Thai Massage Training (2013, in Thailand).

Chrissy Joy is here to help all who seek to find their inner peace, self-confidence, and lifelong happiness.

Chrissy is the owner of Flow of Light.

Rubi McGrory
Rubi McGrory is an artist, writer, chef and alchemist who aims to spin all manner of material into something magical, colorful and delicious—often at the same time.
Specializing in vegetarian and vegan fare, she received formal culinary training at New York’s Culinary Institute of America and the Royal Thai School of Culinary Arts in Bang Saen, Thailand.

She spent over two and a half decades as a chef on private/charter yachts all over the world (and some very well-appointed home kitchens)–while also earning an MFA in design from SCAD.

A wellness junkie, reiki master and meditation teacher, Rubi recently launched “Iridescent Ordinary,” a newsletter and series of workshops which explore the art of the daily practice as a way to bring meaning and mindfulness into our lives.

Sue Finkle
Originally from New Jersey, Sue arrived in Savannah in 1997 as a Marine Biologist, and ultimately became part of the husbandry department at the University of Georgia Aquarium on Skidaway Island.
In the early 2000’s, Sue began her journey with Reiki and Yoga. She ultimately received her Master Level in Reiki, and became a Certified Yoga Instructor who teaches in studio as well as hosts Beach Yoga classes at sunset.

Combining her love of nature and meditation, Sue spends her days off on her paddleboard in the marsh, soaking in all the beauty that Nature is always willing to share. She is quick to catch the beauty she sees on film and she feels honored to spend her time this way.

Sue’s mission is to empower students of all levels and ages with practical stress reduction tools. She guides students to increase awareness of body, mind, and spirit, and encourages a practice of self compassion. Sue cultivates a vibrant but peace-filled, non-competitive and non-judgmental, learning and practicing environment.

Laurie Kinkel
Laurie Kinkel has lived full-time on beautiful Tybee Island since 2001. She discovered yoga in 1997 while studying performing arts at Akron University in Ohio. She has evolved her practice and teaching ever since.

She received her RYT 200hr training with Marianne Wells Yoga School at the Goddess Garden Eco resort in Cahita, Costa Rica in 2017. There she gained knowledge from teacher Marianne Wells who, in the early 1980s, studied with B.K.S. Lyengar, the father of Hatha yoga.

Hatha yoga is alignment based yoga with the use of props to aid in performing asana. Since receiving her Hatha yoga certification, she has added certified Pranayama training through Svastha Yoga & Ayurveda Institute. Pranayama is the yogic practice of focusing on the breath to elevate life energies.

She specializes in teaching many different classes on the beach and around Tybee & Savannah including all levels of Hatha yoga, full moon yoga, gentle yoga, kitten yoga, bachelorette yoga, senior yoga, and kids’ yoga.

Lauri is the founder of Tybee Yoga and Healing Arts.
