13th - 18th August 2026
Step into the landscape of the Divine Feminine in Occitanie, the former Languedoc.
Join this transformative 6-day, 6-night retreat along the ancient Magdalene Trails of Southern France — routes long linked with Mary Magdalene, the Black Madonna, Cathar wisdom, and the hidden traditions of the feminine Christ.
This immersive hiking journey is an invitation to slow down, listen to your inner knowing, and reconnect with nature through sacred places, embodied practice, and intentional community.
Dramatic Medieval Castles & Cathar Heritage
Sites such as Peyrepertuse and Quéribus are among France’s most striking Cathar fortresses, set high on rugged limestone ridges with sweeping views across the Corbières. Along the way, walkers encounter powerful reminders of the Cathar legacy in extraordinary settings.
An Epic Historical and Spiritual Story
The trail weaves together medieval Cathar history and the legends surrounding Mary Magdalene, creating a rich narrative through southwestern France’s mystical past. It speaks to history enthusiasts, hikers, and spiritual pilgrims alike.
Stunning Natural Landscapes
The route moves through a wide variety of terrain, from the cliffs and narrow canyons of the Gorges de Galamus to the rolling foothills near Bugarach and forested paths leading into the Pyrenees. The scenery is as moving as the journey itself.
Unique Geo-Mystical Sites
Mount Bugarach is known for its distinctive mystique, drawing visitors for both its unusual geological structure and its esoteric associations. It offers something beyond a standard hiking trail.
Thermal Culture & Wellness
Stops in towns such as Rennes-les-Bains offer access to traditional thermal baths and a wellness culture shaped by the region’s natural hot springs, creating space for rest and renewal along the way.
Charming Occitan Villages & Local Culture
Throughout the journey, you’ll pass through and near medieval villages with local markets, heritage churches, and authentic Occitan culture, alongside regional food, artisanal crafts, and community life.
The Journey
We will walk, reflect, and remember across lands shaped by centuries of devotion and mystery. Each day balances moderate hiking with rest, integration, and soulful exploration.
The Magdalene Trails wind through forests, hills, and small villages marked by histories of devotion, exile, and contemplation connected to Mary Magdalene, the Cathars, and the feminine spiritual tradition.
Over six days, you will experience:
This retreat is not about moving quickly from one place to the next — it is about walking with presence and allowing the land itself to become your teacher.
Daily hikes are moderate and suitable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness who is comfortable walking several hours a day on uneven terrain.
