June 19–28, 2026
This program offers a rare chance to explore, practice, and experience the meditation-in-action teachings of the Dorje Kasung. Participants will learn how to bring these practices into daily life as Bodhisattva Warriors, serving others wherever they engage.
Everyone will live, practice, and work together at the Magyel Pomra Encampment grounds. Daily life in the encampment includes caring for the camp, preparing shared meals, and supporting one another with attention and responsibility. In addition, this year’s Drala Gar will have the opportunity to serve at DMC’s Midsummer Day celebrations and the 3 Yanas Program.
The retreat also offers opportunities to deepen training along the Non-Commissioned Officer and leadership paths. It is designed as a living environment where practice and activity are woven together in a spirit of discipline, warmth, and mutual support.
Who this retreat is for
This retreat is open to anyone inspired to explore Dorje Kasung practice, Dharma, and service. It welcomes both new and experienced practitioners, Suncamp veterans, and Dorje Kasung of all seasons.
While full participation is ideal, partial attendance can be arranged. The Gar practice environment follows the MPE style: a more open container that allows participants to extend their practice outward in service beyond the encampment itself.
What participants will receive
Participants will connect with the heart teachings of protector practice passed down by the Dorje Dradul. This path emphasizes first caring for one’s own state of mind and then extending that steadiness outward in service to others.
The teachings support practitioners in maintaining sanity amid chaos, meeting difficult situations with humor, and bringing dignity into everyday experience. Through the encampment practices, participants can experience the playful dignity of dharma protectorship in a living mandala, allowing the view, practice, and activity of Kasungship to become increasingly natural.
