Silence reveals the deepest essence of human beings. In this sacred space, we are invited to find our true place in the world, to stop escaping ourselves, and to observe reality with greater clarity as we move closer to the Ineffable. Silence also offers tangible therapeutic benefits: it helps regulate blood pressure, supports the body’s overall functioning, and activates the immune system.
Silence is eternal and always present. It is not something we “do,” as we often say, but rather something that emerges when we stop making noise. As external and internal noise decreases, silence naturally rises to the surface in all its depth.
One of the greatest challenges of our time is the lack of silence. Machines, engines, unwanted music, and shouting in public places have turned silence into a precious resource: increasingly necessary, deeply valuable, and, unfortunately, rare.
This retreat is designed for all ages and is dedicated to contemplation and to slowing down the fast pace of everyday life, allowing a deeper connection with the inner senses. It is a weekend opportunity to calm the mind and emotions, integrate with and harmonize with nature, and share this experience while feeling part of the same working group.
The main aim of this weekend is to live with and within silence, allowing ourselves simply to feel. It is as simple as that, and yet so inspiring. We want these to be days for turning inward and being with yourself, within an atmosphere that supports this state of retreat.
It is open to anyone interested in the practice of active spirituality. It is also ideal for those who long for a different kind of weekend, resting in a unique natural setting.
After the welcome and introduction, the retreat is structured around scheduled daily meditations, forest bathing, and excursions. We aim not to overload the program with activities, no matter how “connected” they may seem, because silence needs space and time for non-doing.
Ramana Maharsi. True silence is the absence of all things. It is an absolute emptiness, a nothingness that is not nothing. This is the silence of Brahman, the ultimate reality and the natural state of being. Silence is not the absence of sound, but the presence of all sound and all forms of life. Ultimately, silence is the natural state of consciousness.
It takes place at the Can Benet Vives in-formative campus, located 50 km from Barcelona and 45 km from Girona, in the heart of Montnegre Natural Park, Spain’s first “Silence Park,” a distinction awarded by Quiet Parks International.
The retreat is organized and led by members of the Escola de Vida Simultaneïtat.
