This 5-day meditation retreat includes 3 full days of silence, offering a deeply supportive space to slow down, reflect, and reconnect. You will spend your time in nature and with horses, guided through structured meditation practices in a calm and nurturing setting.
Silence creates space to meet yourself without the usual distractions. So much of how we understand ourselves comes through interaction with others, but when that constant feedback falls away, attention turns inward. In that stillness, the labels and roles that usually define us begin to soften, allowing for greater clarity and honesty.
Silence also changes the way we relate to others. We often react to people around us from old wounds and unconscious patterns, trying to manage discomfort by sorting life into what feels safe and what does not. In this retreat, those reactions are gently brought into awareness. With support from deep, structured meditation, you can begin to see them more clearly and let them move through.
As silence continues, feelings such as anger, grief, or irritation are no longer projected outward. Instead, they can be felt, processed, and healed. The result is a quieter mind, a lighter emotional state, and a deeper connection to peace, joy, love, compassion, and creativity.
Sunnycote, 39 Silverdale Road, Arnside. LA23 2EL
You will stay in a large, beautiful Victorian house near the sea in Arnside. This area, Arnside and Silverdale, is classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the edge of the Lake District National Park. The house is within easy walking distance of the bay, with views across to the Lake District mountains as well as access to extensive forest and hills.
There are six guests in total on this retreat, and each person has a private room. The house is decorated in a quirky bohemian style, with plenty of places to rest and relax, including a completely private walled garden. Books are available to enjoy, and in your free time you are encouraged to walk, swim, and journal.
The house is within walking distance of the train station, with a short train journey from Lancaster. Arnside is also close to the M6; leave the motorway at Carnforth and continue for around 15 minutes along country lanes. The nearest airport is Manchester, with regular trains to Lancaster and then a change to Arnside.
You must arrive at 4pm on Day 1. After an hour to settle in, dinner is served at 5pm. The welcome circle begins at 6pm and finishes at around 9pm.
