This 8-day meditation retreat includes 6 full days of silence, offering a rare opportunity to slow down, listen deeply, and reconnect with yourself. You will spend your days in nature, alongside horses, and supported through carefully structured meditation throughout the retreat.
You will stay in a large, beautifully furnished Victorian house near the sea in Arnside. Arnside and Silverdale are both designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, situated on the edge of the Lake District National Park. The bay is only a short walk away, with views of the mountains, woodland, and rolling hills.
The house accommodates 16 guests in total, but for this silent retreat bookings are limited to just 7 people. This creates more peace and space, reduces pressure on the kitchen and bathrooms, and also allows 4 guests the option of a private room.
Decorated in a quirky bohemian style, the house offers many places to rest and reflect, including a fully private walled garden. There are books to enjoy, and guests are warmly encouraged to walk, journal, and make the most of quiet time between sessions.
Experience the magic of this retreat:
This transformative retreat invites you into deep silence, embodiment, and healing, all while surrounded by the sea, mountains, and nature. Guided by the intuitive presence of horses, you will take part in meditations and practices designed to help you reconnect with inner peace and balance.
So often, we understand ourselves through the reactions and responses of others. Over time, these reflections can shape beliefs and perceptions that may not align with our true direction.
In silence, the labels that define us begin to dissolve. The mind settles like still water, allowing reality to be seen more clearly. In this quiet space, you can begin to notice what needs to grow and what may be holding you back.
On a conscious level, we may blame others for what we cannot control. Yet many of our reactions arise from unprocessed wounds in the unconscious mind. Silence interrupts those projections, making space to feel and heal what lies beneath. As this unfolds, the mind becomes calm, clear, and more aligned with peace, joy, love, compassion, and creativity.
Horses are prey animals that live in herds, which makes them deeply sensitive and highly attuned. They are always present, constantly observing and responding to changes around them. Their hearts generate an electromagnetic field five times larger than a human heart, and they can detect your heart rate, hormonal shifts, and emotional state. In this way, they mirror your emotional circuitry and help calm the central nervous system. When we invite them into connection, they show us how we are moving through the world and what may be keeping us stuck.
In spring and summer, sessions take place outdoors with two rescue horses in the paddock. Yogi and Ellie have been meditating with people for a combined 16 years. They connect very deeply and often lie down on the grass so guests can lie beside them and cuddle. The effect is deeply calming, like a natural sedative, supporting coherence in the heart and central nervous system. These horses are based at Amber’s Field, a 5-minute drive from the retreat house, and guests will be driven there each day.
In winter, the retreat works with the gentle giants at Old Hall Farm in Bouth: Stan and Archie, the peaceful Shires, along with the donkey Ernie and Shetland Ted. This provides a comfortable indoor space away from Lake District weather.
At any one time, the group works with no more than two horses, with a maximum of 8 people. This supports safety as well as the practical guidance of the energy work. Before and after the teachings, guests are invited to meet the other animals and connect.
The house is within walking distance of a train station, with a short journey from Lancaster. Arnside is also close to the M6: leave at Carnforth and continue for around 15 minutes along country lanes.
The nearest airport is Manchester. From there, regular trains run to Lancaster, where you can change for Arnside.
You must arrive at 4pm on Day 1. You will have one hour to check in, dinner is served at 5pm, and the welcome circle begins at 6pm, finishing around 9pm.
