This 5-day meditation retreat includes 3 full days of silence, offering space to slow down, turn inward, and deepen your practice. Throughout the retreat, you will spend time with horses and in nature, supported by structured meditation and gentle guidance.
Silence creates the conditions to meet yourself without distraction. Normally, we understand who we are through constant interaction with others, but when that feedback falls away, attention turns inward. In that stillness, the labels and roles we carry begin to soften, leaving space to see clearly what is true and what needs to change.
Silence also changes how we relate to others. We often react from old wounds that sit beneath the surface, shaping how we respond to people and situations. During this retreat, those reactions are no longer projected outward. Instead, they can be felt directly, met with care, and gently released.
With deep, structured meditation supporting the process, silence allows unconscious material to rise and move through. Feelings such as anger, grief, or irritation are given space to be acknowledged and healed. As this happens, the mind becomes quieter and more spacious, like still water. From that place, peace, joy, love, compassion, and creativity can emerge more naturally.
Sunnycote, 39 Silverdale Road, Arnside. LA23 2EL
You will stay in a large and beautiful Victorian house close to the sea in Arnside. Arnside and Silverdale is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the edge of the Lake District National Park. The bay, with its views of the Lake District mountains, along with woodland and hills, is just a short walk away.
The house sleeps 16 people in total, but bookings for this silent retreat are limited to 10 guests. This helps create more peace and space, reduces pressure on the kitchen and bathrooms, and also allows 4 guests the option of a private room.
Decorated in a quirky bohemian style, the house offers many places to sit and rest, including a completely private walled garden. There are also books to enjoy, and in your free time you are encouraged to walk, swim, and journal.
The house is within walking distance of a train station, with a short train journey from Lancaster. Arnside is also close to the M6; leave the motorway at Carnforth and continue for around 15 minutes along country lanes. The nearest airport is Manchester, with regular trains from Manchester to Lancaster and then onward to Arnside.
You must arrive by 4pm on Day 1. After an hour to check in, dinner is served at 5pm, followed by a welcome circle at 6pm, which finishes around 9pm.
