This 5-day meditation retreat includes 3 full days of silence, offering time to slow down, reconnect, and be guided through a carefully structured practice. You will spend your days with horses and in nature, supported throughout by meditation, mindful walks, and quiet reflection.
Silence creates space to meet yourself more directly. Without the usual feedback from other people, the familiar labels and identities we carry begin to fall away, allowing you to see more clearly what is present beneath the surface.
In that stillness, you may begin to notice what has been shaping your reactions, your patterns, and the ways you respond to the world around you. Rather than being pulled outward by constant interaction, you are invited inward, where quiet observation can reveal what needs to shift and what may be holding you back.
During the silent days, you process deeper emotional material in a supported way. Through structured meditation, feelings such as anger, grief, or irritation are given space to be felt and released. This can leave the mind clearer, calmer, and more open, with greater access to peace, compassion, joy, and creativity.
Sunnycote, 39 Silverdale Road, Arnside. LA23 2EL
You will stay in a large, characterful Victorian house close to the sea in Arnside. The house is in Arnside and Silverdale, an area classified as Outstanding Natural Beauty on the edge of the Lake District National Park, with a bay, forest, hills, and views of the mountains just a short walk away.
The house sleeps 16 in total, but the silent retreat is limited to 10 guests. This creates more ease and spaciousness in the kitchen and bathrooms, and also makes it possible for 4 guests to have a private room.
Beautifully decorated in a quirky bohemian style, the house offers many places to sit and rest, including a completely private walled garden. There are also plenty of books to enjoy, and in your free time you are encouraged to walk, swim, and journal.
The house is within walking distance of the train station, with a short train journey from Lancaster.
Arnside is also close to the M6. Leave at Carnforth and continue for around 15 minutes along country lanes.
The nearest airport is Manchester, with regular trains from Manchester to Lancaster, then a change to Arnside.
You must arrive at 4pm on Day 1. You will have one hour to check in, dinner is served at 5pm, and the welcome circle begins at 6pm, finishing around 9pm.
