This 8-day meditation retreat includes 6 full days of silence, offering a deeply restorative space to slow down, reconnect, and reset. Held in nature and guided with care, the experience combines structured meditation, time with horses, and spaciousness for inner reflection.
You will stay in a large, beautiful Victorian house near the sea in Arnside. Arnside and Silverdale are both designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the edge of the Lake District National Park. The house is just a short walk from a bay with sweeping views of the Lake District mountains, as well as forest and hills.
The house sleeps 16 in total, but for this silent retreat bookings are limited to 7 guests. This creates more peace and space, reduces pressure on the kitchen and bathrooms, and also allows 4 guests the option of a private room.
Decorated in a quirky bohemian style, the house offers many places to sit, rest, and unwind, including a fully private walled garden. There are also plenty of books available, and guests are encouraged to walk and journal during free time.
Experience the magic:
This transformative retreat invites you into deep silence, embodiment, and healing, while surrounded by mountains, sea air, and nature. Guided by the intuitive presence of horses, you will take part in meditations and practices designed to restore inner peace and balance.
Much of how we understand ourselves comes through the reactions and reflections of others. Over time, this external feedback can shape beliefs and perceptions that may not truly reflect who we are.
In silence, the labels begin to fall away. The mind becomes like still water, allowing reality to be seen more clearly. In this quiet space, you may begin to understand where you need to grow and what has been holding you back.
On a conscious level, we often blame others for what we cannot control. Yet our reactions frequently arise from unprocessed wounds in the unconscious mind. Silence allows those projections to soften, so what lies beneath can be felt and healed. As this unfolds, the mind becomes still, clear, and aligned with peace, joy, love, compassion, and creativity.
Horses are prey animals that live in herds, which makes them deeply perceptive and highly attuned to their surroundings. They are always present, constantly sensing shifts in energy, emotion, and environment. Their hearts generate an electro-magnetic field that is five times larger than a human heart’s. They detect changes in your heart rate, respond to hormonal shifts, and mirror your emotional circuitry.
When we invite horses into connection, they help calm the central nervous system while also reflecting how we are moving through the world and what may be keeping us stuck.
In spring and summer, sessions take place outdoors with two rescue horses, Yogi and Ellie, in the paddock. They have been meditating with people for a combined 16 years. They connect deeply and often lie down in the grass so guests can lie beside them and cuddle. The effect is like a natural sedative, bringing the heart and central nervous system into coherence and deep peace. These horses are at Amber's Field, a 5-minute drive from the retreat house, and guests will be driven there each day.
In winter, the work continues indoors with the gentle giants at Old Hall Farm in Bouth: Stan and Archie, the peaceful Shires, along with the donkey Ernie and Shetland Ted. This provides a comfortable indoor space away from the Lake District weather.
For safety and ease of guidance, we work with no more than two horses at a time and with a maximum of 8 people. Before and after the teachings, guests are invited to meet the other animals and connect.
There is a train station within walking distance of the house, with a short train journey from Lancaster. Arnside is also close to the M6: leave the motorway at Carnforth and continue for about 15 minutes along country lanes. The nearest airport is Manchester, with regular trains from Manchester to Lancaster and then onward to Arnside.
You must arrive at 4pm on Day 1. There will be one hour to check in, followed by dinner at 5pm. At 6pm, the welcome circle begins and finishes at around 9pm.
Please ask to add £250 to upgrade to a private room.
