A four-day pause to look directly at what is creating stress, suffering, or pain in your life—and to shift the way you think about it. Question your thinking, and your life can change.
June 11–14, 2026
Lake Forest Park, WA
Set in a quiet gathering place in north Seattle, this retreat offers a peaceful setting within walking distance of what you may need. Together, we will examine the beliefs that no longer serve us and open the door to joy again.
The retreat begins Thursday morning, June 11, at 9:30am and ends Sunday, June 14, at noon.
At the heart of a transformational retreat is not finding the “right” answers, but questioning the answers we already have. When painful beliefs are brought into inquiry, our inner landscape begins to change. We start to see through the illusion of thought and meet our hidden disappointments, hurts, fury, and rage with honesty. Being human is welcome here. As our thoughts and reactions shift, our whole life begins to shift too.
Who are we without our stories? What is that like? In this retreat, we explore the mystery of being human—thinking, feeling, and discovering what becomes possible when we stop clinging to old meanings.
There is something powerful about gathering with others who share this willingness to look deeply. Stepping outside daily routines gives space to listen inwardly and see situations, relationships, and behaviors with greater clarity.

Topics
Each retreat is unique, shaped by the people present, the setting, and the moment we are in. Through inquiry, we explore what has happened, what we believe about it, and what we imagine about the future. From there, creativity, energy, and joy can begin to flow again.
We will inquire into topics such as wants, desires, hopes, and longings; unwanted behavior, habits, and compulsions; advice-giving; fear, anxiety, worry, and over-thinking; body image, weight, health, illness, pain, and aging; money, success, abundance, and scarcity; relationships, gender, attraction, and communication; friendship, betrayal, and family of origin.
Meal Breaks
There are many nearby options for meals, including takeout, sit-down restaurants, and grocery stores. You are also welcome to bring your own lunch or dinner and store it in the refrigerator. Lake Forest Park Town Center is easy to reach on foot. You may choose to join others or enjoy quiet time on your own.
Lodging Option Onsite
One onsite lodging space is available for one person, and may also work for a couple. The accommodation includes a comfortable European-style fold-down couch with a 2-inch memory foam mattress topper and provided linens. It is located in the same room where the retreat meets, so the space is private at night and shared with the group during the day. A private loft is available for storing your belongings. The large bathroom includes a spacious walk-in shower. There is no kitchen or food storage in the lodging area, though you may use the refrigerator in the main cottage. The bathroom is shared during the day and private at night. The normal rate is $895, including tuition and accommodation.
Grace
After earning her Master’s Degree in Applied Behavioral Science in 1997, Grace began working as a Certified Counselor in Washington State in 2003. Following her first School for The Work with Byron Katie in 2005, she shifted her approach to mental health treatment toward the peace and solutions already within us when we question what we think and believe. Since then, she has seen self-inquiry support loving kindness, empowered acceptance, and freedom from compulsive behaviors, repetitive fears, and relationship pain. Group gatherings remain one of her favorite ways to practice The Work.
Four days in a safe, supportive container with clear exercises and time to focus on the beliefs that have caused pain can open a path toward deeper self-love, compassion for others, and a more peaceful life.
Question your suffering, make peace with your life.
