Extend your stay in the Amazon
Give yourself three extra days to experience more of the Amazon’s nature and culture after your Feather Crown retreat. This extension is designed to help you discover both well-known highlights and lesser-visited places, with time spent in untouched landscapes and closer contact with local life and traditions.
Travel with us into the native rainforest and feel the presence of wild nature in one of the few places on earth where the forest still lives on its own terms. The Ecuadorian rainforest offers a powerful reminder of the deep connection between people and nature. Through this journey, we hope you will experience the beauty of the pristine forest, sense its balance and vitality, and return home with a deeper appreciation of nature and its role in everyday life. The journey itself may also offer space for reflection and self-discovery.
Omar, a guide who is also part of the Feather Crown team, grew up in the forest and will share many fascinating insights that help you connect more naturally with the spirit of the rainforest. Barbara, our facilitator and interpreter, will also accompany the group.
DATES: September 27-29, October 25-27, November 22-24
Day 1
In the morning, your Ayahuasca retreat comes to an end. Afterward, enjoy a hike around the center, visit the sacred stone on the Piatua River, see the petroglyphs, and take in the view of Llaganantes National Park. The afternoon is reserved for rest and packing. Overnight stay at Feather Crown.
Day 2
After breakfast, departure is scheduled between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. The day begins with a visit to Jumandy Cave, a striking cave complex named after the hero who defended the country from colonizers. From there, we continue to a viewpoint with beautiful views of the Andes, weather permitting. The program includes a walk to a waterfall and into the rainforest, as well as an introduction to an indigenous garden and traditional crops. There may also be time for a swim in a clean river. Dinner will be prepared by local people. Overnight accommodation is at Hostal Pakay on the outskirts of Tena, in single or double rooms.
Day 3
The final day includes a visit to a community and an animal rescue station. We transfer to Ahuano, then take a canoe ride on the Napo River to the Chocolate Factory, where you will see a demonstration of traditional organic chocolate making and prepare your own chocolate. Next, we continue to Waysa Wasi community for a demonstration of dance and natural fiber production, then cross the Arajuno River to AmaZOOnico, a rescue station for wild animals that are later released back into nature. In the evening, there is time for a walk along the promenade in Tena, a visit to the viewing tower, and a stop at a shop with traditional products, with the option of having dinner together in town. Return to Pakay hostel for the night. The program ends on Friday evening, and accommodation with breakfast is provided until Saturday morning.
The price depends on the number of participants. Because transport and guide costs are shared, the rate becomes lower with a larger group. For two participants, it is possible to arrange a shorter two-day extension covering Day 2 and Day 3, with a lower price.
