Extend your Amazon stay
Give yourself three extra days immersed in Amazonian nature and culture. This extension to the Feather Crown retreat adds guided excursions into the surrounding region, combining well-known highlights with hidden places in untouched nature. It is a chance to see the Amazon more deeply, meet local people, and experience daily life and traditions up close.
Travel with us into the native rainforest and feel the spirit of wild nature. There are still places on earth where the natural world remains beyond human control, and the Ecuadorian rainforest is one of them. Here, the connection between people and nature is clear and essential. One of the intentions behind this journey is to help guests experience the beauty of the pristine forest, understand its balance and harmony, and feel its life-giving energy. We hope this time in nature will inspire a deeper appreciation of the environment at home, while also offering insights that support self-discovery.
You will be accompanied by Omar, a guide who is also part of the Feather Crown team and who grew up in the forest, as well as Barbara, our facilitator and interpreter.
DATES: September 27-29, October 25-27, November 22-24
ITINERARY
Day 1
In the morning, your Ayahuasca retreat comes to an end. Afterward, enjoy a hike around the center, including a visit to the sacred stone on the Piatua River, the petroglyphs, and a viewpoint over Llaganantes National Park. The afternoon is reserved for rest and packing. Overnight stay at Feather Crown.
Day 2
After breakfast, departure is scheduled between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. The day begins with a visit to Jumandy Cave, a large and beautiful cave complex named after the hero Jumandy, who defended the country from colonizers. From there, we continue to a viewpoint that offers, weather permitting, a striking panorama of the Andes. We then walk to a waterfall and into the rainforest, where we learn about an indigenous garden and traditional crops. Swimming in a clean river may be possible. Dinner will be prepared by local people. Overnight accommodation is at Pakay hostel on the outskirts of Tena, in single or double rooms.
Day 3
This day includes a visit to a community and an animal rescue station. We transfer to Ahuano and take a canoe ride on the Napo River to the Chocolate Factory, where you will see a demonstration of traditional organic chocolate making and prepare your own chocolate. Next, we visit the Waysa Wasi community for a demonstration of dance and natural fiber production. We then cross the Arajuno River to AmaZOOnico, a rescue station for wild animals that are later released back into the wild. In the evening, there is a walk along the promenade in Tena, with a viewing tower and a shop offering traditional products; dinner together in town is possible. Return to Pakay hostel for the night. The program ends on Friday evening, and accommodation with breakfast is included until Saturday morning.
