Description

Inspired by SOLVE Oregon Beach Cleanup activities and held in conjunction with Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup Day, this weekend camping retreat invites you to join the Zen Community of Oregon at Beverly Beach State Park.

Spend a few days on the coast in the company of the Sangha. With a relaxed rhythm and time for connection, the retreat includes sitting periods, Dharma talks, and practices you can carry into the beach clean-up experience.

We will also share work practice together — cooking, set-up, and clean-up — as an ongoing expression of care for one another and for the Earth. Our focus will include compassion, listening practice, our precious living earth and waters, and the Bodhisattvas who protect them.

When: Dinner on Thursday, September 17th through breakfast on Sunday, September 20th. You are welcome to arrive early, but please plan to bring your own food until Thursday dinner.

Beach cleanup will take place on Saturday, September 19th from 10:00am–1:00pm.

Cost: $175 if registered by August 21; late registration is $200.

The group campsite area will not be available, so you will need to reserve your own tent site at the state park. Three nights cost $91. Campsites fill quickly. No yurts are available through the state park reservation system, but a couple of yurts have been reserved for three nights at an additional cost of $202 each. Each yurt sleeps up to 4 people. Please contact Jomon if you need a yurt. Silver Dragons (participants age 60 and better) are being prioritized for yurts.

A $50 deposit holds your space in the retreat. No one is turned away for lack of funds, and scholarships are available by email.

Registration deadline: September 10, 2026
