Are there any specific requirements for visiting Machu Picchu?
What is the best time of year to visit?
The dry season, from May to September, is generally the most favorable time to visit, with more stable weather and clearer skies. June to August is the busiest period, so you can expect larger crowds. April and October can also be excellent choices, offering relatively dry conditions with fewer visitors. Since Machu Picchu remains popular throughout the year, advance planning is always recommended.
What is the altitude of Machu Picchu, and how can I prepare for it?
Machu Picchu sits at approximately 2,430 meters, or 7,970 feet, above sea level. To help your body adjust, it’s best to spend a day or two acclimatizing in Cusco or nearby. Staying hydrated, eating light meals, resting well, and moving at a gentle pace can all help reduce altitude discomfort and support a more enjoyable visit.
