Kripalu’s signature self-discovery program invites you into a deeper experience of living yoga. This intensive explores one of Kripalu’s core teachings: the mindful practice of staying present, moment by moment. Along the way, you are encouraged to reflect on questions such as: How do I keep myself from feeling fully alive? And how can I live in the present instead of remaining in yesterday’s story?
Blending spiritual storytelling, yoga both on and off the mat, mindful communication, movement as metaphor, deep relaxation, conscious fun, and healing breathwork, this experiential and educational program supports you in discovering how to:
You will also take home sustainable strategies and fresh inspiration to continue these practices in daily life and support your best life beyond the retreat.
Note: The extended schedule may limit your participation in other Kripalu events or yoga classes. Participants should expect periods of social silence during portions of the program.
Dear Participants,
Have you ever found yourself at a turning point—paused in a single moment, looking around and sensing that something needs to shift? Maybe you feel dread, maybe nothing at all. Perhaps you are facing a decision, feeling stuck, overextended, challenged, or even celebrating a success. Yet there you are, waiting for something meaningful, something helpful, to emerge.
Then something intervenes. Something says: turn here. Do this. Lean this way. You may not have recognized it in the moment, but later you saw its impact.
That happened to me in 1989, when I joined the Inner Quest Intensive, the program that opened the door to my Kripalu life for nearly thirty years. It happened for many others too. From the early 1970s until 2015, thousands of people participated in this program and could each tell a story about what it offered them.
This program creates the conditions for practicing Living Yoga. The teaching segments are brief and clear, offering beautiful lineage wisdom from Swami Kripalu on compassionate presence. Experiential practices for body, mind, and heart are woven throughout the day, helping us notice habitual responses and, through radical compassion, choose differently. That is the gift of the IQI: the possibility of shifting our brains, bodies, and behavior. You leave with a practice plan and simple, sustainable tools to continue at home.
I was honored to direct this program from 1995 to 2015, leading it three times each year. One of the greatest gifts of my life was witnessing groups come together with different intentions and one shared purpose: connection—with self, with others, and with change. Transformation happens with ease.
The IQI has evolved over time to meet the needs of guests and the organization. At first, as Kripalu’s flagship program, it centered on a single question: “Who am I now?” The structure was austere and rigorous. Social silence was maintained, clocks were covered to create a timeless atmosphere, and the food was light. Since then, the curriculum and format have changed, but the heart of the program remains.
The return of the IQI is a joyful celebration for those who have known and loved it over the years. The format is different now. Shared housing is no longer required, and you may choose the lodging option that suits you. Meals will be held together in the program room, though you may eat whatever you choose. Clocks will not be covered in the building, as we create safety through our shared container rather than external structures. Even with these changes, the curriculum remains the same: we claim ourselves, lean toward our authentic selves, connect with others, and leave with a steady, specific plan for living.
Come practice radical compassion for yourself.
Come identify the obstacles that keep you from becoming your most authentic self.
Come meet those obstacles with judgment-free awareness.
Come be with yourself.
Come be part of a healing community with ease.
Come receive this gift of Kripalu’s core program.
Come practice Living Yoga.
Come to the Inner Quest Intensive.
All blessings,
Aruni Nan Futuronsky
