Join an easy day hike led by an indigenous healer as you walk through local fields and hills in search of ancestral medicinal plants. Along the way, you’ll learn to identify several common species and discover how the leaves, roots, seeds, stems, and flowers of hampi yurakuna have been prepared and used by Kichwa Otavalo families for generations. This experience offers a meaningful blend of nature, cultural knowledge, and traditional wisdom in a relaxed outdoor setting.
The workshop fee includes teachings, storytelling, a group Andean ceremony, a pachamanka lunch, round-trip transportation from San Francisco Park in Cotacachi or the Otavalo bus terminal, and a handout with color images of the plants covered during the tour. It’s a wonderful opportunity to deepen your connection to the land while learning from living tradition.
