Constantine Bay - Mawgan Porth, Cornwall. North Coast
10 Oct 2026
7 miles or 11.3 km - approx 3.5 / 4 hours
Steady inclines and some steep paths
Intermediate Level
Designed for walkers with some experience, this route includes longer stretches and elevated terrain. It offers a more challenging outing, with varied paths that help build stamina and add to the sense of adventure.
This scenic walk begins at Constantine Bay and ends at Mawgan Porth.
Expect a memorable clifftop route above the rugged Cornish coastline, with sections that rise and fall along the coast path. Some inclines are steep, so be ready for changing weather conditions. Along the way, you’ll enjoy sweeping sea views, shifting skies, and a rich variety of seabirds.
The route starts at the beach car park at Constantine Bay, where we join the coast path and set off. As we round the headland and make our way toward Treyarnon Bay, there are plenty of spectacular views to take in. At Treyarnon Bay, you’ll find a natural sea pool that can only be reached at low tide, so wild swimmers may wish to bring their swimming gear.
Looking across to Trethias Island, we will see three prehistoric cliff castles dating back to the Iron Age, between 800 BC and 43 AD. From there, the coast path continues past remarkable views and dramatic rock formations shaped by the force of the waves. The Atlantic meets this shoreline directly, bringing wild sea conditions and coastal storms.
We then pass through Portcothan and continue along the coast path toward Bedruthan Steps. This striking area is known for its beautiful beach and iconic stack of rocks. Although the steps down to the beach are now closed because of erosion, the views from above are still breathtaking. The route continues past the island at Pendarves Point, then along disused mineshafts at Trerathick Point, before reaching Trenance Point. From here, the path leads over the clifftops and descends gently to Mawgan Porth.
