Fiji - The Soma Soma Straits

Fiji is often described as paradise on earth, and this journey makes it easy to see why. Eric and Ann consider the Fijian Islands one of the world’s most magical destinations, thanks to exceptional diving and some of the friendliest people you will ever meet.

Your adventure takes you to Taveuni, the famous Garden Isle. This lush tropical island is known for its vibrant greenery and a mountain that creates its own rain. It also sits beside the Soma Soma Straits, widely regarded as offering some of the best diving in Fiji.

You will stay at Taveuni Dive Resort, a small boutique property in Taveuni Estates, right in the middle of the Soma Soma Straits. Built by divers for divers, the resort has only eight bures, and five have been reserved for this group.

Where you will dive

Diving takes place in the Soma Soma Straits, home to some of Fiji’s most celebrated sites. The White Wall is covered in white soft corals, while Cabbage Patch is known for its expansive fields of cabbage and lettuce corals.

What is included

• 9 days / 8 nights in a mixed Ocean View and Garden View bure
• All meals: full cooked breakfast, two-course lunch, and three-course dinner
• 6 days of 3-tank diving, for a total of 18 dives
• Return airport transfers on Taveuni
• Complimentary Wi-Fi in the Salty Fox Bar & Grill area only
• All government taxes, currently 15% and subject to change
• Regular coffee, tea, and water at the resort
• Nitrox, tanks, weights, boat, professional dive guide, water, juice, and light snacks on the boat during surface intervals

• Round-trip airfare
• Additional transfers, meals, activities, or transit hotels based on the published air schedule
• Transfers not traveling with the group
• Other land tours
• Tips for crew and local guides
• Diving insurance and dive equipment not listed above
• Alcoholic drinks, gift shop merchandise, and resort extras such as specialty coffees and teas, juices, beer, wine, spirits, boutique items, and spa services

This is a recreational diving trip only. Technical diving is not offered, and rebreathers are not currently supported.

Important travel notes

All prices are subject to change until booked and ticketed. Full payment is due upon deposit, and cancellation penalties may apply according to operator and group policies. Because small island properties and vessels have limited ability to refill unused spaces, trip insurance is strongly recommended. There are no refunds for missed flights, missed boats, or changes in plans.

Diving accident and medical insurance is required. Vessel and OVI travel releases are also required. Please bring a copy of your logbook, C-card, and diving insurance. Your passport must have at least 6 months’ validity remaining before expiration.

All guest spaces are reserved upon deposit. However, unless the minimum number of guests is reached by the deadline, an Oceanic Ventures trip leader will not attend.

Air and transfers

Airfare is not included, but assistance with travel arrangements can be provided from your location. The destination is Honiara, Solomon Islands. In-transit accommodations and transfers are generally not needed, though help can be arranged if required. Airport transfers are included.

Additional details

An Oceanic Ventures Application/Travel Release is required at booking, and a Resort Release is required by the final payment date. A roommate cannot be guaranteed unless you are booking with someone, so a single supplement should be expected.

Travel insurance is highly recommended to help protect against unexpected events, including weather-related disruptions or emergencies. Please review all terms and conditions carefully, as a deposit confirms your agreement with them.
