An immersive attorney well-being experience awaits from June 11th–14th, 2026 at Imagine Equus Farm in Columbus, NC. This small-group retreat is designed specifically for lawyers who want to strengthen intuition, deepen wisdom, and reduce stress through meaningful work with horses.
Led by Kim Kupferer, a longtime Capital Defender, 37-year trial litigator, and highly trained Equine Facilitated Experiential Learning facilitator, this retreat was created from firsthand understanding of the demands attorneys face every day. The program offers a rare opportunity to step away from constant responsibility and focus entirely on your own well-being, growth, and renewal.
Grounded in Equine Facilitated Experiential Learning (EFEL), the retreat centers on hands-on, ground-based experiences with horses and donkeys. No riding experience is necessary. Through these interactions, participants explore non-verbal communication, authenticity, balance, boundaries, connection, intuition, energy awareness, leadership, mindfulness, appreciation, and the ability to stay fully present. The experience is designed to support both personal insight and practical skills you can carry back into your professional life.
In addition to the equine work, the retreat includes time in nature, healthy and delicious food, peaceful accommodations, and a supportive group setting. You will also receive a healing session with a Reiki Master or other healing practitioner. The atmosphere is intentionally restorative, with time built in for rest, reflection, wandering the woods, and enjoying the property.
Throughout the retreat, the focus remains on your care and replenishment. The setting includes serene cabins or nearby villas, organic food whenever possible, and access to the creeks, woods, and a small waterfall on the 28-acre farm. The intention is to create space for grounding, clarity, and a deeper connection to yourself.
Each full day includes a healthy lunch around 12:30, along with breaks and snacks. Because the retreat is experiential, some timing may shift as needed. During free moments, participants are encouraged to explore the land and enjoy the quiet beauty of the farm.
Attorney Retreat Tuition: $1,949 without lodging; $2,499 with 3 nights lodging.
The retreat package includes the program, 3 nights of lodging for June 11th, 12th, and 13th, 2026, all materials and activities, daily lunches and snacks, opening night dinner, closing celebration brunch, healing Reiki or other healing session, and catered to-go dinners on nights 2 and 3. Extra nights may be added before or after the retreat for $185 per night.
Space is limited to a maximum of 6 participants. Accommodations include two tiny home cabins on property, with additional nearby options through local farm and vineyard partners or independent Airbnb bookings in the area.
This retreat offers a powerful chance to reconnect with yourself, deepen your leadership and communication skills, and return home with a greater sense of ease, clarity, and well-being.
