Grounded in the traditional Ashtanga Yoga system, this retreat weaves breath and movement into a steady daily rhythm that supports concentration, clarity, and greater physical awareness.
Included in the program are five Mysore-style practices, three in-depth workshops, plus guided pranayama and meditation sessions. It is intended for those who want to deepen their understanding of the Ashtanga method, build a consistent practice, begin yoga in a supportive setting, or step away from everyday responsibilities to rest and reset.
We see yoga as a complete practice that reaches beyond physical movement alone. This retreat offers a balanced experience designed to support both practice and personal renewal, creating space to step back from routine and reconnect with yourself. Set in a beautiful environment, it invites you to engage with the method in a focused, meaningful, and restorative way.
Ariel and Lily
Ariel is an Ashtanga yoga student and teacher authorized by Paramaguru R. Sharath Jois. She has traveled to India multiple times to study the Ashtanga lineage directly with her guru, deepening both her practice and her understanding of the tradition. She has completed two 200-hour Yoga Teacher Trainings and, as one of the founders of Ashtanga Yoga Chicago, helps lead a Mysore program that supports a committed community of practitioners. Her teaching is shaped by direct experience and long-term study, with the intention of sharing the teachings she received from her guru in the most honest and authentic form, honoring his lineage and guidance. Ariel first came to yoga in her early twenties as a way to better understand herself. She explored different styles and immersed herself in yogic philosophy, literature, and pranayama. In 2015, she attended a Mysore class and encountered the traditional Ashtanga method. Since then, she has maintained years of dedicated daily practice. Alongside teaching yoga, Ariel works in physical therapy with a clinical focus on breathing dysfunction and airway-related conditions. She is an Oxygen Advantage Instructor and trained in Buteyko breathing, blending science-based breath training with traditional yogic principles. Drawing from both her clinical background and Ashtanga training, she supports students in meaningful transformation in their practice and their lives.
Lily began moving long before she can remember. After years devoted to dance training, she took her first yoga class in 2014. Curious about what she had experienced, she explored different modalities, and it was through Ashtanga Yoga that she felt a deep resonance. With Ashtanga, her devotion to practice was born, and what began as exploration became a committed daily practice and an ongoing path of self-study. In 2018, Lily moved to Chicago to continue developing her professional work as a mental health therapist. Wanting to deepen her understanding beyond the physical side of yoga, she completed her Yoga Teacher Training under Gopi Om (Nicole Sopko), grounded in classical Hatha Yoga teachings. She has also had the honor of studying with and assisting her teacher Todd Boman, strengthening her connection to the traditional Ashtanga lineage. Lily has completed additional training in Trauma-Informed Yoga, pranayama, and meditation, dedicating years to contemplative and embodied study. As both a psychotherapist and yoga teacher, she approaches this work through an integrative and professional lens, honoring meditation, breathwork, and embodied awareness as meaningful tools for mental health and overall well-being. She remains deeply committed to daily practice and to her continued growth as an Ashtanga practitioner. For Lily, Ashtanga is a lifelong path of study, humility, and transformation. She currently co-holds space through Ashtanga Yoga Chicago, committed to sharing and upholding the integrity of the Ashtanga method. Through this practice, Lily has experienced profound personal transformation and is devoted to creating spaces where others can explore their own path with steadiness, patience, and grace.
