In Kundalini Yoga, however, we are understood to consist of ten different aspects: one physical body, three mental bodies, and six energetic bodies. Each of these bodies supports a specific quality or value in life. When one is underdeveloped, that quality may become distorted. Through specific Kundalini Yoga meditations and kriyas (set sequences of exercises), you can strengthen these ten bodies and bring them into harmony, allowing your full potential to unfold. This also benefits physical health, since illness often first appears in the energetic layers. By becoming more aware of your different bodies, you can give yourself what you need to restore balance. Kundalini Yoga is an exceptionally efficient form of yoga. It works quickly and deeply, so you can feel and experience the results right away. For that reason, it is ideal yoga for householders: people with busy lives, work, family, and responsibilities toward others. In short, it fits life as it is usually lived.
You do not need to be unusually flexible to join Kundalini Yoga; everyone can participate. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the instructions are clear and practical. A class lasts about an hour and a half and follows a fixed structure: tuning in, yoga set, relaxation, meditation, and closing.
The emphasis is on experience. Kundalini Yoga is known for its dynamic exercises, attention to the breath, use of mantra, and meditation. The practices help you become aware of your physical, mental, and emotional state while positively influencing it at the same time.
