This workshop focuses on how we meet change. Together, we explore the fear of letting go and releasing control, opening ourselves to surrender and the flow of time. The atmosphere of this retreat is meditative and subtly inward-looking, with less emphasis on intensive bodywork. In preparation for the central ritual, we use, among other things, the classic mantra for fear of death. Because the theme centers on impermanence and inner reflection, the approach is intentionally unusual: the familiar ways of perception are gradually reduced. We begin with blindness, allowing the inner dialogue of constant judgment to become quieter. Attention can then turn inward with greater ease, while the everyday self slowly steps back.
This inward centering is often experienced as deeply pleasurable. It can gradually satisfy the longing for release, for emotional and physical surrender. When outward sight is removed, distractions and stressors fall away. Inner space becomes wider and more expansive, making it easier to recognize outdated patterns that no longer belong in life.
The powerful death ritual that follows is designed to help participants leave these patterns behind and consciously shape change. Its structure is inspired by the Tibetan Book of the Dead. The work addresses the existential law of the dissolution of physical existence, while focusing mainly on what we want to transform — in other words, what we are ready to let die in our lives.
Afterward, you symbolically remain in the Bardo for an extended period, a state of being between life and the experience of physical death. With no external stimuli, inner perception is strongly activated. You will be in complete darkness, while being carefully supported throughout the ritual.
Change as an Opportunity
This meditative state can feel different for everyone: for some, it may bring reflection and review; for others, it may open the door to a deep immersion into the dream world. It also offers the beautiful sound of silence — a quiet happiness rooted in stillness. In Tibet’s pre-Buddhist Bön tradition, a dark retreat is described as the “royal path of meditation.”
The experience concludes with an equally moving rebirth ritual, where new beginnings are ceremonially celebrated. The uniqueness of the moment is recognized in beauty and quiet joy. With gratitude and heightened sensitivity, you return to the outer world with a clear, pure gaze and step back into life.
This tantra retreat is open to everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation. Singles and couples of all relationship constellations are warmly welcome.
