Explore poetry from a fresh angle and open the door to imagination as a way of reshaping the stories you carry, guided by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Marie Howe.
How might imagination change a story we have told ourselves again and again? How can we revisit the past and, through reimagining it, create a different life? And how do we begin to envision a future we truly want, even if it feels difficult to picture?
Marie Howe will share selected poems of her own, along with works by poets who have influenced her, including William Blake, William Wordsworth, Emily Dickinson, and Rainer Maria Rilke, as well as contemporary voices such as Stanley Kunitz, Carl Philips, Donika Kelly, Lucille Clifton, Brenda Hillman, Mark Doty, and Brigit Pegeen Kelly.
Each day includes time for reading and discussion, as well as time to generate writing and share it. This is a generative space—welcoming, supportive, and free of judgment. Together, we will look at old stories in new ways and imagine our way toward a different vision of reality.
This weekend is open to everyone, including beginning writers, experienced writers, and those who have never written a poem before.
