Shamanic Practitioner Training

This training is designed to offer hands-on experience with a broad spectrum of time-honoured shamanic healing and transformation methods, while supporting participants to grow in confidence and step more fully into the responsibilities of a shamanic practitioner. The journey calls for honest self-inquiry and a readiness to engage deeply with personal process. Along the way, limiting beliefs are met and challenged, hidden gifts are brought forward, and each person is supported in integrating new knowledge with practical healing work. As confidence develops, participants begin to emerge as independent workers of the ancient ways, grounded, empowered, and ready to act.

Learning in a group setting also brings the strength of shared intention, allowing the collective energy of the community to deepen the work and expand the experience of spirit-led practice.

This training includes the following main subjects:

• Soul Retrieval: exploring soul loss linked to trauma, including its effects, causes, and the process of soul retrieval for a client.
• Extraction Medicine: learning an ancient healing art for removing spiritual intrusions or misplaced energy from the physical and/or ethereal body, with safe transmutation practices for both practitioner and client.
• The Garden of Soul: a contemporary form of shamanic counselling that opens direct communication between a person and their illness or condition.
• Ceremony & Ritual: studying a range of ceremonies from shamanic cultures around the world, and learning how to create ceremonies for the self, others, the community, the land, and the cycles of the earth.
• Earth Skills & Time in Nature: developing bush skills for ceremonial and practical use, with substantial time spent outdoors in the natural environment around the center.
• Shamanic Divination: working with tools such as bones, twigs, stones, bark, and beads to read patterns and gain insight into present and past influences.
• Medicine Wheel: exploring the ceremonial use of the Medicine Wheel for healing and self-discovery, including your own unique Medicine Wheel through the spirit keepers of the four directions.
• Healing Circles: engaging in collaborative group healing, with each participant taking on different roles and also receiving the work.
• The Ancestral Realms: communing with blood ancestors as well as ancestral spirit teachers and shamans.
• “Psychopomp” and Death as our Ally: working with death-related themes, including psychopomp, a Greek term meaning “to lead the soul,” to help earthbound spirits cross into the land of light.
• Art, Music & Dance: using creative expression to integrate experience and embody intention through music, dance, sacred object-making, drawing, whittling, and ceremonial items such as smudge sticks.

Successful completion of the course meets the requirements to work as a shamanic practitioner, and participants receive a certificate.

Pricing & Information

The training is limited to 16 participants and includes four week-long residential gatherings at Anam Cara, along with supervised practices to be completed at home. It begins in October 2026 and concludes in March 2028, followed by a three-month integration and correspondence period.

Each gathering runs from Tuesday at 6pm until the following Tuesday at 2pm.

Trainer Fee: £2600 includes all tuition, materials and supervision of work undertaken at home

The required prerequisite is The Ancient Ways – Introduction to Shamanism workshop, or an equivalent. For UK participants who were unable to attend an introductory course before the training begins, and for overseas applicants, a self-learning programme covering the prerequisite will be provided after booking the practitioner training.
