Educational ‘Aloha Farm Tour:
This tour is designed for guests of all backgrounds, whether you’re new to organic farming or already familiar with it. As you explore Hale Akua’s lush jungle farm, you’ll learn how animals, vegetables, fruits, and herbs are raised organically, and you may also see — and taste — what is currently in season. Along the way, you can ask about composting, worm composting, mushroom growing, microgreens, food forest management, and more.
You’ll also spend time with ducks, chickens, bees, and fish, with a brief introduction to how these animals can be raised in a backyard setting. The experience includes insights into building healthy soil through cover crops and permaculture practices such as “chop and drop,” where commonly grown plants are used as mulch to protect the soil and support microbial life. After all, the health of a garden begins with the health of the soil.
Feel free to ask questions throughout the tour and enjoy a rich exchange of knowledge from your farm guide.
