Join us in exploring the Prokletije Massif, often called the “Balkan Alps” and known as the largest mountain massif in the Balkans. Here, you can take in exceptional views of Prokletije, part of the Dinarides and their southernmost, highest, and most striking section.
The massif stretches between Lake Skadar and the Zeta Valley in the southwest, the Drim River in the east, Metohija and Mokra Gora in the northeast, and the Komovi to the west. Its dramatic peaks and rugged presence are why the name “Balkan Alps” is so often used. In Albanian, Bjeshket e Nemuna means “damned mountains,” reflecting the area’s long-standing inaccessibility. The first hiking trails in these “forbidden mountains” appeared only 20 years ago, as access to this border region with Albania had previously been dangerous and restricted.
Natural beauty, breathtaking landscapes, captivating views, accommodation away from the city noise, delicious traditional specialties, and attentive staff will make this holiday truly memorable. For lovers of active travel, this is a true paradise!
