This compact Kashmir itinerary combines the atmosphere of a traditional houseboat stay with high-altitude alpine scenery, creating a journey that feels both restorative and immersive. From Dal Lake to Srinagar’s heritage gardens, then onward to Gulmarg’s sweeping meadows and Sonmarg’s glaciers, the route brings together some of the region’s most memorable landscapes. Tour Plan

Day 1 – Arrival in Srinagar & Houseboat Stay | Dal Lake Experience

Arrive in Srinagar at 5,200 ft (1,585 m) and transfer to a traditional houseboat on Dal Lake. After check-in, settle in with views of the calm water and the Zabarwan hills reflected across the lake. The evening is intentionally unhurried, giving you time to ease into Kashmir’s rhythm. Dinner is served onboard, followed by an overnight stay on the houseboat.

Day 2 – Floating Vegetable Market & Srinagar Sightseeing | Culture & Gardens

Start early with a shikara ride to Srinagar’s well-known floating vegetable market and observe daily life unfolding on the lake. After leaving the houseboat, continue with sightseeing at Shalimar Bagh, Nishat Bagh, and Shankaracharya Temple. Time is also set aside for local shopping, with an optional visit to Pari Mahal if time allows. Overnight stay in a Srinagar hotel.

Day 3 – Gulmarg Day Trip from Srinagar | Gondola & Alpine Meadows

Drive from Srinagar to Gulmarg (50 km | ~2 hrs), reaching 8,690 ft (2,650 m). Spend the day among Gulmarg’s green meadows and take the famous Gondola ride for sweeping Himalayan views. Depending on the season, you may find snow-covered slopes or lush alpine scenery before returning to Srinagar in the evening. Overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 4 – Srinagar to Sonmarg | Scenic Himalayan Drive

Travel from Srinagar to Sonmarg (80 km | ~3 hrs). Arrive at 9,000 ft (2,743 m), surrounded by snow-capped peaks and mountain rivers. The rest of the day is free for relaxation, short walks, or simply enjoying the crisp alpine air. Overnight stay in Sonmarg.

Day 5 – Sonmarg & Thajiwas Glacier | Alpine Landscapes

Visit the iconic Thajiwas Glacier, accessible by pony or a gentle walk. Take in snowfields, glacial streams, and wide Himalayan views. The afternoon remains free for leisure, photography, or peaceful nature walks around Sonmarg, making for a relaxed yet highly scenic day. Overnight stay in Sonmarg.

Day 6 – Naranag & Dumail Walk from Sonmarg | Iconic Picnic Experience

Drive to Naranag and enjoy a scenic walk to Dumail, where mountain rivers meet in a dramatic alpine setting. An iconic picnic lunch adds a memorable experiential touch before returning to Sonmarg for a relaxed evening and overnight stay.
