Water gives life. We know its thirst-quenching and life-sustaining qualities, but its purifying and blessing powers are just as essential. In these times, many people have lost touch with the waters — and with that, the path to the inner Source, as well as the living springs in their own home environment. This journey invites you into a deep connection with the element Water, in the company of a small circle of nature-connected women.
Together, we visit powerful water places in the Ardennes and connect with springs, rivers, and waters in our own surroundings. From within, we learn about the healing qualities of water, the power of ceremony, and the history of spring veneration. We turn to Water for guidance about the times ahead and the role we, as women, may play within them. Through guided meditations, ceremonies, and rituals, we strengthen our bond with the Water within us and offer that strength back to the Water, so her healing energy can flow abundantly once more.
We also share around vulnerable themes connected to womanhood and our profound relationship with the Waters. You will experience the deep cleansing effect of water on your own energy system, while we continue the lineage of guardians who regularly visited springs to thank, honor, and celebrate the powers of water. Throughout the journey, you will deepen your connection with the springs and waters near you and begin to engage with them actively.
No prior experience in shamanic or ceremonial work is required to join, though it is certainly welcome.

After the journey, there is the possibility of organizing an outing to waters or springs near your home for the group.
You will stay at Chamai, in the Old Rectory of the small village of Hodister in the Ardennes. The retreat center and house are located in a quiet village surrounded by forests and meadows. Delicious vegetarian meals are included. Accommodation is in a spacious room shared by two or three people. Private rooms are possible for a limited number of registrations and with an additional supplement. Sleeping in a tent in the beautiful garden is also possible.
During the day, we are outdoors, visiting remarkable springs and waters in the surrounding area. We work intentionally with a small group of up to 6 participants, so places are limited.
Register by completing the registration form. Standard price: 1200 euro. Supporter & Business price (for those who want an invoice for their business or wish to support someone who is financially struggling): 1200 euro + 21%.
You are fully registered once the participation fee has been transferred to the specified account. By registering, you commit to taking part in the full journey. If one weekend must be cancelled by the organizing team, a new date will be arranged in consultation with the group. If, due to circumstances, you are no longer able to participate, the full amount remains due, including when paying in installments, unless you find a replacement participant yourself. If you miss one or more weekends, any amount already paid cannot be refunded. A social rate of 1000 euro is available on request by email for a maximum of 2 people.
Sophie Vandenkerchove
Sophie is deeply connected to both inner and outer Wild Nature. For many years, she has practiced Zen meditation in the Korean tradition and has received several initiations in Druidism and local Celtic shamanism. She also trained as a Wilderness Rites of Passage Guide at the School of Lost Borders in California.
Most of all, Sophie loves being in the forest or walking the pilgrim routes in the Ardennes, where she has received her most profound insights about life. She grew up in the forests of the Ardennes, where, as a child, she felt a strong connection to the land of her ancestors. After roaming wild places in the cities, she returned to the village of her forebears. There, she founded Chamai, a retreat center where she facilitates trainings, Vision Quests, and nature weekends.
