




Montenegro is a true paradise for cycling enthusiasts, offering some of the most rewarding biking routes in Europe. At the heart of this adventure is the CT1 transversal, connecting the mountain ranges of Komovi, Bjelasica, Sinjajevina, and Durmitor, along with two national parks: Biogradska Gora and Durmitor.
This biking package reveals some of Montenegro’s best-kept natural treasures: secluded corners of national parks and reserves, mountain peaks, winding serpentines, forest trails, rivers, canyons, valleys, lakes, dense woods, scenic viewpoints, eco and ethno villages, and summer pastures. Along the way, you will experience breathtaking landscapes while also getting closer to the local spirit, culture, and traditional cuisine.

The ride begins toward Lipovo, a village known for green forests and cold springs. The route offers wide views of katuns and the peaks of Sinjajevina, and serpentines help overcome the altitude difference between the Lipovo valley and the Sinjajevina plateau. From the Vratlo bend, the cycling route continues through mountain landscapes and traditional settlements. A short distance from Njegovuđa in Žabljak lies Zminičko Lake, one of the 18 lakes in the Durmitor region. If weather permits, there is time for a swim in this beautiful lake at 1286 meters above sea level. Surrounded by coniferous forests and fed by melting snow from nearby mountains, it is known for its striking color and peaceful setting. Those who prefer a quieter stop can enjoy lunch or refreshments near the Church of St. Georgije in Zminica. Dinner and overnight are in a local household near the lake.

This is a short cycling day through Njegovuđa village toward Žabljak. Žabljak is the highest town in the Balkans, located at 1456 meters above sea level in the heart of Durmitor. It is one of Montenegro’s most popular winter destinations, and in summer it attracts visitors with its lakes, mountain peaks, and the nearby Tara River canyon, the deepest canyon in Europe. Durmitor is also home to around 1500 plant species outside the winter season. Arrival in Žabljak, accommodation check-in, and free time.
Durmitor ring bike tour: Žabljak – Momčilov grad – Štuoc – Mala Crna Gora – Sušica – Nedajno – Trsa – Prutaš – Sedlo – Savin kuk – Žabljak.

This mountain cycling day offers views of untouched nature and authentic villages where life has remained almost unchanged for centuries. From Žabljak, the route continues through Pitomina to Momčilov grad and the Štuoc viewpoint, then descends to Mala Crna Gora and Sušica canyon. After a break and water refill, the ride climbs to Nedajno, with another viewpoint over Mala Crna Gora and Sušica canyon. The route then continues toward Trsa, with sections of varying difficulty, followed by new views of plateaus and pastures dominated by Prutaš. After the ascent, the descent leads toward Žabljak via the Pošćenski area and Savin Kuk ski resort.
This is one of the most popular tours among cyclists.

From Žabljak, the route passes through picturesque villages toward Piva Lake, the largest reservoir of drinking water. A break on the bridge offers views of its emerald-green color. In Plužine, a town set between the slopes of Durmitor and Maglić on the edge of Piva Lake, the tour includes a visit to Piva Monastery. Its construction lasted 13 years, and the same amount of time was needed for its relocation due to the hydro power plant. The monastery treasury is among the richest in Montenegro, with valuable old manuscripts and the first books printed in the Balkans. After the visit, there is an optional opportunity for a lake cruise or ZIP line. The ride continues to an ethno village for a break, then on to Windmill park and along the old road through villages to Nikšić.

The day begins with an easy ride through the city, including a visit to the Church of St. Vassily of Ostrog, Rampart, and Krupačko Lake. The route then continues to Ostrog Monastery, a major pilgrimage site visited by believers from around the world and considered the greatest sanctuary for the people of Montenegro. It is ranked third among Christian pilgrimage destinations, after Christ’s Tomb in Jerusalem and Mount Athos in Greece. After a descent to the Sokoline restaurant and a break, the cycling continues to Ždrebaonik Monastery in the municipality of Danilovgrad, a spiritual center with a long historical role. The final stretch follows the old Martinići road toward Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro.
