The reason many families return year after year is simple: camp offers one of the few times when everyone can truly just be together. There’s no pressure to cook, drive, or manage a schedule. You can spend time with your teenagers, or just as easily enjoy time apart, depending on the moment. People leave feeling more connected, more grounded, and a little bit transformed. It feels magical.
Set in the scenic foothills of Vermont’s Green Mountains, this week-long family getaway brings together relaxation, creative expression, nature, fun, great food, and community. It’s an easy way to vacation with your extended family, knowing that toddlers through grandparents will find something to enjoy. Simply arrive, and everything else is taken care of.
At Camp Common Ground, a healthy family vacation means balancing shared experiences with space for personal growth and renewal. The program is designed to support both, giving every family member a chance to connect with their peers, their own interests, and one another.
While the youngest campers make supervised messes and teens head off to explore the trails, adults can join an art class, head to the swimming spot, meet new friends, or settle into a hammock with a good book. Nature, creativity, music, silliness, learning, lounging — you’re free to do as much or as little as you like.

The Common Ground Center spans 700 acres and combines the beauty of Vermont’s outdoors with the facilities and amenities that make your stay convenient and comfortable. Within this green landscape, you’ll find barn spaces used as classrooms and stages, playgrounds, hiking trails, sports fields and courts, hammocks, a vegetable garden, and much more.
Your family’s cabin serves as a cozy basecamp tucked into the woods, yet still close to all the action and amenities. Each unique cabin is near the dining hall and shared bathhouse, which includes indoor and outdoor showers, electricity, and flush toilets. You may also choose a private room in the EcoLodge, or tent camp on provided platforms or in the open field.

The food at Camp Common Ground has earned a bit of a legendary reputation. Wholesome vegetarian buffet-style meals are prepared from scratch by talented cooks who turn locally grown ingredients into abundant spreads with something for both selective eaters and adventurous diners.
