Modern life makes it difficult to avoid exposure to pollution and other harmful elements. Each day, our bodies are challenged by what we breathe, the plastics we use, the products applied to our skin, and much of the food found in stores. Processed foods often contain preservatives, flavor enhancers, colorants, antibiotics, fertilizers, and pesticides. Stress and negative thought patterns can also create toxic load in the body. Over time, the body may struggle to clear this waste efficiently. When there is not enough time between meals, or not enough strength to process everything, toxins can be stored in fat, in the corners of the colon, and in the liver, kidneys, and tissues. As the organs work harder and harder, they begin to function less effectively, and illness can follow. These signs are often the body’s way of asking for time to detox, recover, and heal. Taking part in a detox from time to time can support regeneration and give the body the extra space it needs to clean itself.
