Spend six nights in a supportive Ashtanga yoga retreat with Elinore Burke, KPJAYI Authorized Level 2 teacher, featuring daily mysore practice with pranayama and chanting, along with seated meditation each day. The program also includes afternoon workshops focused on asana technique and philosophy, offering a balanced experience of practice, reflection, and study.
Elinore has studied yoga since 1996 and has been teaching since 2004. Her early training included the Bihar Yogic Tradition of Northern India and Vipassana meditation, where she attended long, silent retreats. After discovering Ashtanga Yoga through Eddie Stern in New York City, she was drawn to its meditative rhythm and strength, and it has remained her daily practice since 2001.
She received Level 2 authorization from KPJAYI in Mysore, India, where she first studied with the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in 2004. She returned to Mysore many times to continue learning with his grandson, Sharath. In addition, she completed a Yoga Therapy qualification through Yogacampus in London in 2016, followed by Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training with her long-time teacher, Christopher Titmuss, in 2018.
For Elinore, yoga is a way to meet life more fully and with greater awareness. Her teaching is rooted in traditional Ashtanga Yoga and informed by her experience as a yoga therapist and meditation teacher. She supports students in exploring their practice on the mat in a way that encourages self-awareness and self-reliance.
The retreat center is located on 2.5 acres of grounds in a valley surrounded by olive and almond groves.
Accommodation includes six twin rooms and one double room, each with a private ensuite bathroom. All rooms have been renovated to a high standard using locally sourced materials, creating a setting that feels luxurious, simple, and understated. A spacious outdoor courtyard serves as the main communal dining area, while several terraces offer places to unwind in the sun or shade.
At the center of the property, the swimming pool provides a vibrant gathering point, where blue water meets green olive trees and red earth.
Food is an essential part of both the yoga practice and daily life here. Meals are designed to be varied, unprocessed, and nourishing, supporting energy and wellbeing. The cuisine is plant-based, with ingredients sourced and grown at YogApulia that are local, seasonal, and organic wherever possible.
Refreshments are available throughout the day, including tea, coffee, water, and fruit.
Brindisi International Airport is about 40 minutes away by car, while Bari is approximately 55 minutes north. Renting a car in Puglia is affordable and offers a convenient way to explore the countryside, historic towns, and beaches. Both airports offer a wide choice of rental companies, including Avis and Hertz, and booking in advance is recommended. A taxi can also be arranged for airport pickup.
