Set in the Sacred Valley of Peru, this retreat brings together traditional Amazonian and Andean wisdom in a carefully guided healing journey. It was developed with highly experienced indigenous healers, including an Onaya healer from the Shipibo tribe and an Inca medicine healer, pampamisayoq, from the Qero tribe of the high Andes. The experience is led in a traditional way, from the Inca principle of Munay, or love, to the preparation of the plant medicine and the use of iqaros, the sacred shamanic chants.
While the retreat is rooted in ancestral practice, modern medical support is also part of the structure to help ensure guest safety and support integration. A multi-disciplinary health team, including a cardiologist, psychiatrist, psychologist, and general practitioner, works alongside the indigenous healers. A doctor is present during the Ayahuasca ceremonies and has access to state-of-the-art emergency medical equipment. The center has been operating for 40 years, with safety as a long-standing priority, and has welcomed more than 7,200 satisfied guests.
The retreat includes three Ayahuasca ceremonies, along with individual consultations, group meetings, healing ceremonies, a coca leaves ceremony, a cleansing and floral ceremony, gratitude offerings to Pachamama, love meditation, full-body massage, group walks, and two volunteering activities based on the practice of Ayni, or reciprocity. Small groups of up to 18 participants allow for a more personal and supported experience. All retreat activities are facilitated in English.
Accommodation is simple and comfortable, with shared bedrooms for three people and shared bathrooms. Meals follow a vegetarian diet designed to support work with medicinal plants. All transport to and from the retreat center is included.
Guests are required to arrive at least two days before the retreat to acclimatise to the altitude of Cusco, which sits at 3,500 meters above sea level. If arrival is on the retreat day, participation will not be possible and the retreat must be moved to the next available date, without refund. A hotel room must be booked for the night between acclimatisation and the retreat, and the next day the group meets at Plaza Nazarenas at 09:00am before traveling by shuttle bus. Breakfast on retreat day should be limited to juice and fruit only, with no bread or dairy.
Preparation guidelines are important. Two weeks prior, participants must abstain from pork, sexual activity including masturbation, alcohol, cannabis, all street drugs, spicy food, and ice-cold foods or drinks. One week prior, avoid refined sugars, red meat, junk food, salt or pepper, sweets, chocolate, oils, animal fats, carbonated drinks, dairy, fermented foods, caffeine, and other stimulants. Please inform the team about any medication, supplements, menstruation during the retreat, or pregnancy. A doctor’s letter confirming good health is mandatory; if unavailable, an onsite check-up in Cusco is required for an additional $50 US. Participants over 50 must complete a stress test, either in their home country or in Cusco for $55 US.
To support safety and preparation, it is recommended to detox naturally for at least two weeks before arrival. For altitude sickness, MUÑA tea and airport oxygen shots may help, and any severe symptoms should be reported to the staff.
