A sacred journey of healing and enlightenment in the Andes.
Experience Ausangate Mountain from a different perspective, replacing a standard hike with horseback riding through one of Peru’s most striking highland landscapes. Accompanied by an Andean shaman, you will take part in ancestral ceremonies including cleansing, coca leaf reading, and a gratitude ritual. The journey also includes a local homestay, set among the dramatic beauty of the snow-capped Apu Ausangate and its stunning mountain lagoons.
Your adventure begins in Cusco with a drive of about 3 hours to the Pacchanta community near Ausangate Mountain. From there, you will either ride horses or walk as you explore the mountain scenery. Along the way, there will be a breakfast stop at a local family’s home. The route then continues toward Ausangate, where you will be welcomed by another local family and receive a coca leaf oracle reading with the Andean shaman. After lunch, you will join spiritual cleansing ceremonies right in front of Ausangate Mountain. In the evening, you will stay overnight at a local homestay near Ausangate and enjoy a traditional dinner.
After breakfast, the day continues with a visit to Otorongo Lagoon, a special place in the Ausangate area. A 25-minute walk brings you to the lagoon, where a meaningful Andean ceremony will be led by the local priest. This ritual is centered on gratitude and on deepening your connection with nature and yourself. Your Andean shaman will also share insights into Inca cosmology and ancient traditions. After this powerful experience, you will return to Pacchanta for lunch before traveling back to Cusco.

This 2-day program includes walking sections, especially around Ausangate where altitude is an important factor. However, participants may choose to enjoy the scenery on horseback or explore on foot, depending on their preference.
At the local homestay, you will stay with a welcoming family in simple but clean rooms with warm blankets. It is not a hotel-style stay, but it offers an authentic look at local life, surrounded by beautiful mountains and lakes.
You will also enjoy delicious local meals prepared with fresh ingredients, giving you a genuine taste of the region. Sharing this experience with the shaman and local guide makes it even more meaningful.
Our Andean healers come from the Q'eros Community in the high Andes. This community continues to preserve ancestral ceremonies just as their ancestors did for generations. They are recognized as the last direct descendants of the Incas and remain devoted to protecting their cultural heritage and spirituality.
The Andean shamans lead spiritual cleansing ceremonies using energetic tools, water, and flowers. They are also skilled in reading coca leaves and offering guidance through the coca leaf oracle reading. In addition, they conduct ceremonial offerings to Mother Earth as an expression of gratitude to oneself and to the spirits of nature.
